Originally from Pickering, Ontario, Ashley holds a degree in Biology and Bioveterinary Sciences from East Stroudsburg University (ESU) and Dalhousie University. While studying at ESU in Pennsylvania, she played NCAA soccer on an athletic scholarship. After graduating, Ashley pursued her passion for wildlife at Dalhousie, where she worked with eagles and raptors, helping rehabilitate them for release after injury. In the following years, she earned her Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) designation through Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC.
After becoming an RVT, Ashley began her career at BC Cancer as a Laboratory Animal Technician, working with mice and rats to support researchers in promoting the highest standards of animal welfare. She then went on to join Xenon Pharmaceuticals, a neuroscience-focused company in Burnaby, as a Research Associate II, where her work centered on advancing treatments for children with Dravet syndrome, a rare form of early childhood epilepsy.
In her personal time, Ashley and her lovely Cat spend a lot of time, watching new movies, reading sci-fi or fantasy books and doing a little video gaming to relax. She is always looking for the next adventure spot to explore on Vancouver Island for a good road trip.
Ashley joined our team in January 2023 and is looking forward to jumping back into small animal practice as well as providing the best care for her patients.
